Hey! I’m Katie.
I am neurodivergent, queer and permanently exhausted.
I have worked with Disabled people, in the youth sectors and early years since 2013. I became a community researcher exploring cancer care inequity for both transgender and Disabled people in 2021.
I started my ESRC-funded PhD in 2024. My PhD is titled: Exploring Trans and Gender Diverse Autistic Adults’ Experiences of Health and Social Care Inequity.
I am a co-founder of Autistic Substance Use Network (ASUN). We hope to address the knowledge gap in the understanding of Autistic substance use and it’s impact on policy and services as people with mixed experiences of substance use and substance use services.
I love to work with people from my community, to embrace and hold each other with care and validation. I cannot extract myself from my work and my work from myself.
This is my life work.
I bring my whole self to training, consultation and speaking events. My interests are on LGBT / GSRD experiences, intersections of patriarchy, ableism, capitalism and racism and how these affect access to good care.
I love reading, playing D&D, and watching wrestling. I also love spending time with my little family.

Congrats, that’s a big step! Happy to have the resource and follow along. I’m a middle-aged late diagnosed ADHDer and am fairly certain I’m Autistic as well. Mustering up the courage to do the same, and share my experience navigating the world… eventually.
