Not all of me

abstract painting

You do not know me,

not really,

you hold my health, my life, in your hands,

yet you do not see me,

not all of me.

I am they,

to you I am: woman, lady, female,

my being is more expansive than you could ever dream,

a tick-box could not contain me,

not all of me.

I am scribbled notes,

database,

I am human when necessary,

parts of me will be examined

still,

not all of me.

I am every person,

I am no one,

I am gender and genderless,

body, soul, mind,

surreal, divine, ordinary,

these words could never explain me,

not all of me.

I do not share myself with you,

my being is not mine,

it is created through others,

I do not own myself,

not all of me.

I am patient,

survivor,

they,

a tick-box could never contain me,

a hundred boxes would not dare,

You do not know me,

not all of me.
